17 Things I Learned in 2017

To say the least, this year has been filled with so many ups and downs.  That probably sounds really cliche but in all honesty, 2017 was all over the place.  There was some good, some bad, some ugly, some great, and everything in between.  Through it all I have learned a lot and I look forward to 2018 because I have so many exciting things awaiting.  I saw  Kingsley  do a video on YouTube discussing the 17 things he learned and I thought that was a really good way to wrap up the year.  So without further ado, here are my 17 things I learned this year.  Please feel free to share whatever you learned in the comments below and if you have any thing you're looking forward to in the new year do tell! I learned that even when I don't think I'm good enough, God thinks I am enough .  There were so many times that I felt defeated and overwhelmed but when I see myself through God's eyes things become so much better for me.  It's okay to not be...

Monthly Favorites - December 2017

Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄 The year is almost over and I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!  This month I have a lot of favorites so it was hard to narrow it down to just 10 items.  However you celebrated Christmas, I hope you had a great day filled with love.  Let's get to it... Amazon Echo -  Found here,  this new tech toy was gifted to me for Christmas and it's my new favorite thing.  The best way I could describe it is the Amazon version of Siri.  Call on 'Alexa' to tell you the weather, news updates, etc. and the Bluetooth feature allows you to play music at any time.  Profusion Nude Eyes Palette - If I'm not mistaken, this is the newest brand sold at Target.  This palette  has been my go-to for an easy, everyday makeup look.  The shadows are very pigmented and they blend out perfectly.  Inexpensive and easy to use?  I'll take it! 👍 Blogger - A good friend of mine, Azia Cherry, has launched a webs...

Monthly Favorites - November 2017

I may not be a fan of pumpkin spice buuut I do have some favorite things for November!  This month I wanted to feature more than beauty products and as always, if you have some favorites to share drop them in the comments below!  (I can't be the only one who thinks pumpkin spice is overrated, right?!) Song: Get You - Daniel Caesar ft. Kali Uchis 💽 QuayxDesi Rose and Gunmetal Sunnies - It may not be summer anymore but these aviators come in handy on those sunny morning drives to school.  Get yours here.  😎 Glade Wax Warmer - I'm not a fan of candles but I love wax warmers because they're safer and seem to have a stronger scent than regular candles.   Amazon  has the warmers for under $10 and they have a wide variety of wax scents.  (Clean linen is my personal fave.) Onesie Adult Pajama - Okay, before you judge let me tell you... These are some of the most comfortable pajamas I have ever worn lol.   Target  has them on sale now for ab...

'Tis the Season... of Stress

Okay, okay, it's been almost a month since my last post.  Why?  Well, honestly, I haven't been in a creative space lately.  It's the end of the semester and it seems like professors love to assign 30 projects that are all due on the same day. 😑  In addition to my never-ending school work, I would be lying if I said I haven't been feeling really stressed out.  This semester is coming to an end which means next semester is quickly approaching.  The pressure is on - find classes, get an internship, choose a career, apply for a new job, save money, balance school with everything else, and try not to lose my mind in the process.  It's overwhelming to say the least. Yesterday was Thanksgiving and as weird as it may seem, I'm actually grateful for the season of stress.  When I look back over my life (as if I'm 90 or something), I realize that every season of stress was followed by a season of success.  I've come to learn that there is no sunshine...

Monthly Favorites - October 2017

It's that time again!  October flew by and it's time for monthly favorites.  Let's get right into it... Too Faced 'Born this Way' Foundation -  Found here , this foundation is my new favorite makeup item.  It's perfect for those with normal to dry skin, it has a satin finish, and it feels really lightweight.  This foundation does not have SPF so it's flashback free (yay!) and easy to blend.  I would recommend getting shade matched at Sephora or Ulta before you buy it. Mossimo Platform Pumps -  Here,  Target has some of the most comfortable shoes for pretty decent prices.  I found these heels in the clearance section for $14 and they are the cutest!  They are actually pretty easy to walk in because of the platform heel. 👠 Personalized Journal - Paper Source is a great website for journals, planners, notebooks, accessories, and more.   Customize  your own notebook or use the prints they already have.  These are great...

Let Me Be Honest...

It's currently 10 o'clock at night and I'm up thinking about a million different things.  You know how everyone has that time in their life that's filled with uncertainty?  I feel like my time is now.  Almost every single day I question what I want to do next, short term and long term.  My next milestone is graduating with my Bachelor's (spring 2018 can come a little faster) and if I'm being completely honest I have no idea what I want to do with that degree.  I know what I really want to do with my life but it doesn't match up with the careers that my degree would support. I'm going to be transparent and honest with myself and with God by saying that the life I want for myself has nothing to do with my degree.  I don't want a 9-5 job that's filled with stress.  I don't want to get up and go to a job that doesn't make me happy.  I don't want to get a paycheck every month that reflects my weekly hours and not my creativity.  I don...

Monthly Favorites - September 2017

This month I wanted to do something a little different for my monthly favorites.  For September, I want to showcase some content creators that I find influential.  Our world is so full of negativity right now and though I think it's important to know what's going on around us, I think it's equally important to take a break from the heavy weight of the world's problems and shift our focus to something lighter.  The following people are content creators and influencers who I think deserve a shoutout for their positive light.  If you have some favorite people please feel free to share in the comments! 💬 Charisse Christine - Charisse is a 24 year-old student YouTube vlogger who has such a positive and optimistic approach to life.  On her self-titled main channel, she shares lifestyle, beauty, and hair videos that any girl can relate to.  She has a vlog channel, Charisse Christine Vlogs, where she gives viewers a closer look into her personal life.  He...
